Heroes Season 2: new spoilers from Kristin

No Comments 31 July 2007

Maya-Alejandro E!Online’s Kristin in her latest colum answered a few questions from her readers and shared a few ‘insider’ information an spoilers about the second season of Heroes. Here’s the highlights of her latest installment of her column:

In the picture:
newest Heroes
Maya and Alejandro

Do you have any Heroes news? I miss that show!
The powers of new Heroes Maya (Dania Ramirez) and Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) are connected. Dania told us this about her brother, “We need each other.” We also hear that despite reports the fraternal twins are from the Dominican Republic, they’re actually from Central America and will either be leaving from or at least passing through San Cristobal, Honduras.

Do you know anything more about David Anders’ role on Heroes?
We asked Masi Oka, “Riddle me this. White guy from Oregon. How is [David Anders] a samurai-type in feudal Japan?” He answered, “You will find out in the first episode. And it’s an answer that everyone will be happy about. Does he have any powers? Does he share any powers? We don’t know. Is he white? Yes.” Masi wins at life. By the way, for more on this Kensei fellow, check out Yamagatofellowship.org.

How is Sylar going to fit into Heroes this season?
We talked to Greg Grunberg recently, and he had this to say: “We’re still playing with some of the stuff from last year, but they’ve definitely introduced a new character, which I hope I have a big part in, that they alluded to last year. Remember, Molly said last year, ‘Every time I think about him, he can see me; he’s the bogeyman.’ There’s this character that is looming out there that’s bigger and badder than Sylar, so it’s going to be pretty crazy.” I ran that by Sylar himself, Mr. Zachary Quinto, and he said, “There’s definitely a dark new energy on the show, and it’ll be interesting to see how Sylar fits into that.”

Do you know what’s going on with the Petrelli brothers in season two? I want my Petrelli action.
So do we, so we asked Adrian Pasdar what was going on between Nathan and Peter, and we were sad when he told us, “Milo and I have not worked together in a long time…” Speaking of time, Jack Coleman tells us of the season premiere, “It’s not a direct cut in time. We’re four months in the future, and Hiro is 400 years in the past, but those timelines collide in a very dramatic way.”

What’s happening with my boy HRG on season two of Heroes?
According to Jack Coleman, he’s moved the family to somewhere in Southern California. He says, “Los Angeles would not be accurate, but not far off.” He added, “Everyone survives, but the Bennets are a very dislocated but determined group that tries to make the best of it, but old ways and old ghosts quickly come into play very dramatically.”

Heroes, Heroes, Heroes!
There will be an upcoming storyline set in County Cork, Ireland. Separately, look for a dangerous new Francophone character named Sophie. She’s the employee of a powerful, mysterious group, and she’s “not afraid to use lethal force to accomplish her mission.”

Line up started around 9 am for the Heroes panel scheduled to start at 12:45 pm (and it did, ballroom filled to capacity (around 3000 people, maybe more) with many fans (hundreds) left outside. Good thing we went inside earlier to check the Bionic Woman panel (in the same ballroom) and it was like killing two birds with one stone since we got to see the pilot episode (Bionic Woman will also air on NBC, and Heroes fans should check it out, they’ll love it) and keep a seat for the -much anticipated- Heroes panel. There’s present press and fans from all over the world: Heroes is getting bigger by the minute.

The panel starts:
cast walks in, introduced by Loeb, hugs and hand shakes. Jackis wearing a ” I’m just a paper salesman” Masi a “Hayden is my Hero” Greg a “Milo is my Hero” and t-shirt.

On stage : Jack Coleman, Hayden Panettiere, Masi Oka , Milo Ventimiglia, Noah Gray-Cabey, James Kyson Lee, Greg Grunberg, Adrian Pasdar, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Ali Larter, Dania Ramirez (that will play Maya. She looks gorgeous…), Tim Sale (artist behind Isaac’s paintings) and last Tim Kring . The panel is moderated -as always at comic book conventions- by Jeph Loeb (show co-producer and co-writer and also one of the best writer in the comicbook industry).

DL is -again- nowhere to be seen.

Just a quick article from the convention today (taking advantage of a break between panels and some slooow wi-fi connection) to post a couple of news and some pictures we took today.

News and rumors:

DL is nowhere to be seen, and looks it will be that way for a long time.

Masi Oka was at the “Get Smart” movie panel yesterday. He’ll play the part of one of the Agency’s sloppy inventors.

Heroes/Universal Media/NBC announced tons of Heroes licencing products,
it goes from trading cards, video games, games for mobile phones, clothing!!!, posters, figurines and -very nice- a 2008 Heroes calendar.
Companies tied to these various products includes:
WizKids Inc. (HeroClix figurines)
Scorpio Posters (posters)
Topps (trading cards)
Mezco Toyz (action figures and deluxe figures)
…and many others.

On top of all that Titan Publishing announced they’ll publish the official Heroes Magazine, that’ll ship bi-monthly and will provide an inside look on the production of the series, actors’ interviews, games, letters…a fan’s dream come true.

If it ever was in doubt, George Takei will play Kaito Nakamura even on Season 2.

But there’s a -small- twist: Zach will portray Spock, but a more ‘mature Spock’ will be portrayed by Leonard Nimoy (the actor who played ‘Spock’ in the original 1966 Star Trek televised series).

Zach Quinto was present at the panel, and commented “It is incredible to be part of something so iconic” he said also he’ll honor the part and he’ll add his own ’spin’ to the role.

Heroes: the latest news

Here is some fresh news and rumors about NBC Heroes’ Season Two. They come mostly from this morning’s on-the-set press conference, sponsored by the TCA. Masi Oka was the tour guide.

• Nathan and Peter are alive. Or better say “not dead?”. Isaac is dead but we’ll see more paintings of the future during season two.

• The series will take a four weeks break at Christmas, and another -similar- break in Spring.

• Hector Luis Bustamante (of ‘Hostage’ fame) has signed for a guest starring role that may turn into recurring

• Lyndsy Fonseca is off the show . Fonseca’s “gay cheerleader” role had to be cut after Fonseca landed a series regular part on Desperate Housewives.

• Ali’s character, Niki, will move away from the split-personality gig.

• The entire cast was present at the TCA press event on the set but Leonard Roberts (D.L. )Note this is the second Heroes’ press conference in a row without Roberts. Rumor, still going strong, is we won’t see D.L. during season 2.

• Dania Ramirez revealed that her character, Maya “..speaks Spanish, is in Central America and she’s running from the cops…”. Press notes describe Maya as “a young woman plagued by a threatening ability that has driven both her and her twin brother Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) from their home in the Dominican Republic to make the dangerous crossing to the United States in search of help.â€?

• Zachary Quinto, asked about his role on the upcoming Star Trek movie said “Everybody else seems to have more to say about it than I do”…”I’m under strict orders not to say anything ” But the usually well informed insiders insist he got the part, and Tim Kring said “we’re in negotiations about that now” [he'll work Quinto's shooting schedule to not interfere with Star Trek's]

• Haiti, Egypt, Mexico, Ireland, Ukraine, Japan and -obviously- the US are among this season’s destinations.

• Ubisoft is finishing a deal with NBC Universal to produce a “Heroes” videogame. Official announcement might come as early as this weekend at the SDCC
