NBC Universal Media released the first images from Heroes season finale Episode 23 ‘How To Stop An Exploding Man’ slated to air May 21, 2007.
As always the images are offered in no particular order and without description -but the name, title and air date of the episode, name of the character and the actor, date it was taken and by whom. They sure have tight lips!
That’s why if always entertaining, and sure to stimulate some discussion, to try to put those images in order and speculate on what the situation on the image might be.
As mentioned in the official description of episode 23, most of the action during the season finale will take part at Kirby Plaza. And everybody knows what ‘Kirby’ refers to…right? If not: search for ‘Jack Kirby , Marvel Comics and X-Men’.
We assume this -in chronologichal order – should be the first image of the series: Peter Petrelli with Nathan. And that -on Peter’s hands- doesn’t appear to be blood, but some paint applied to help with the visual effects in post-production.
On the next image
the detail of the same picture seems to confirm it.
Another look at Peter Petrelli…
…and a closer look at the stains on his hands.
It gets even more interesting. As we know Micah Sander is Mr. Linderman’s ‘guest’, and the babysitting is -reluctantly- provided by Candice Willmer (that has the power of illusion).
During episode 21 Micah attempted to escape, unsuccessfully. It appears that this time he has better luck.
Our impression of this picture is that Jessica wasn’t very thankful to Candice for the free babysitting she provided her with…
..and, if our suspects are accurate, Candice we’ll have a fat lip that’ll last her till next season.
Look who we got here! Jessica, Molly ‘tracker’ Walker, Micah and …there goes the speculation DL will die during episode 22. He’s alive…
…but -check his hand- he’s hurt. Guess Mr. Linderman didn’t feel like using his healing power on that. Secondary note: all four of them are looking ‘up’, something important is happening.
Claire Bennet is running…
…there’s blood on the collar of her shirt.
Even HRG and Claire Bennet are looking at something happening up here, and…
… there’s blood and …
..she’s holding the gun Peter handed her during episode 21. Will she use it to shoot Peter? or Sylar? or maybe someone else? And will that be the solution…
…or the solution involves also the necessity to stop someone else?
Hiro seems to think so.
Stay tuned, that’s going to be a great ride, our Heroes will keep us guessing till the last second.

Last speculations for today:
are we sure that Mr. Petrelli was Nathan and Peter’s “real” father?
My theory here is that they’re watching Sylar and Peter fight up on a building. Claire has bloodstain coz she tried to jump when Sylar was after her. Well, whatcha guys think?
Anyway, I can’t wait for the season finale.
more speculation?
The “elders” and Nathan talk Peter into exploding. The scene with Peter and Nathan is Peter getting ready to nuke NYC.
Hiro will mistakingly slash Peter who is masquerading as Sylar after obtaining the morphing ability (I believe the “real” sword has something to do with Peter’s scar and explains the future where Hiro says Sylar was able to regenerate – cuz it wasn’t Sylar. Sylar never got to Claire). This is so the world blames Sylar not them and causes the world to fear people like Sylar. Due to being slashed, Peter loses control and starts to explode. (Hiro ends up sorta being responsible, catch 22 maybe?). Peter flies away and explodes. Nathan would easily be killed if he tried to fly Peter away. The “elder’s” (momma Petrelli, Linderman, Hiro’s dad, etc….) plan to use the explosion for their real purpose (destroying the fabled “Uluru” before he awakens – who is actually the Petrelli father) fails. Remember, Uluru claims in the comic to be “the invincible”. Momma Petrelli makes a statement about Poppa Petrelli “thinking he was invincible”. Hiro once again stops time and realizes he needs to go back even further (~20 or 25 years) to when the plan started to be able to fix the future. This leads to the next season entitled “Generations”, where we meet the past and future heroes. Meanwhile, Sylar gets to Cadence and Nathan.
=-=-=-=IMPORTANT FINALE NOTICE=-=-=-
MUST READ TRIS!
According to TV Guides schedule of shows, the last episode of heroes will be ONE HOUR. The finale is actually three hours, broken down into three shows.
In an interview with the COMICBOOKRESOURCE.COM, the producers had a question and answer segment, in which they stated that the finale was three hours, broken down into three episodes that are one hour each.
As i said in some post before, i surrender its just too many pieces in this puzzle to figure it out completely.
i surrender to the autor’s great power.
i love sharing theories with you guys but its getting a very mind consuming task. you just have to remember and perhabs do a detailed review of who met who, what did they said to each other, so you can get an idea of the kind of information they have, the result is a very complex scenario as i had never seen in a tvshow with time travel involved. ( not even back to the future lol )
I dont know if anyone is trying to stop peter but claire and peter himself and they aren’t even sure that its peter the one that explodes. If the were, then WHAT THA HELL IS PETER DOING GOING TO NY!!!.
Bennet knew about the bomb as he talks with Isaac and he even gives Isaac a gun to kill peter on sight, then WHAT IS HE DOING BRINGING A NUCLEAR MAN TO NY!!!!.
Finally Hiro and Ando went 5 years forward, and peter didn’t had the kindnesss to reveal to Ando that HE WAS the bomb, not Sylar!, so Hiro is actually wasting his time trying to stop sylar when he must be trying to stop peter. (althought i think the greater menace IS sylar not the bomb).
Incomplete information being passed from one character to another is what this show is all about.
But it’s fun seeing how close your theories are. Don’t you agree?
Sorry its me again, one last thought.
Sylar gets to candice.
Hiro is preparing himself to stab Sylar.
Sylar just need to get peter unstable.
Sylar can make anyone see what ever he likes as he has now the power of the ilusionist.
Sylar makes Hiro think peter is sylar ( making peter looks like him ) Hiro stabs him getting peter unstable ( althought peter regenerates now he will go “boom” ).
i’ll be waithing for you opinions.
P.D i got part of this idea from Nakamura some posts up.
hi Nakamura! of course this show really hit the spot, i has the visual efects and it lets you think, guess and speculate a lot, i love it. but right now i have a headacke lol.
Mike, I think you’re still confused about the ’string theory’.
In short: what’s true and happened in one reality (past or future) is not necessarily the same (also true, also happened) event of the past or future.
ahhh. I didn’t even consider Sylar getting to Candice first and creating the illusion of Peter being Sylar. I figured the Petrelli’s would try to protect their own reputation and they were responsible for the illusion. OR Candice is creating the illusion herself via Linderman’s orders. Maybe?
In the episode “5 Years Gone” there is an illustration that Hiro sees in which he is killing someone that he assumed to be Sylar. I thought that perhaps it was Nathan since it seemed as though the man in the picture was wearing a suit. However, he also had a 5 o’clock shadow and Nathan never has had one but Sylar routinely does.
Now, on the cover of Entertainment Weekly there is a series of covers that give hints for the upcoming episodes. On one cover-
coverhttp://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20036782_20037403_20037407_2,00.html
-is Hiro and Nathan and Nathan has… a distinct 5 o’clock shadow. Hiro is next to Nathan perhaps hinting at their futures being linked. Nathan also has the facial hair on the photo with the article.
Also, in one sneak peek on this site you will see Hiro asking Nathan for help with the bomb. After nathan declines and as he drives away Hiro repeatedly shouts “Villain!” at Nathan. In another clip you will see Hiro’s dad tells him that
“Evil must be stopped… the next time you face your villain, you will kill him.”
Hmmm… his villain? Nathan? It seems to make sense since with Nathan dead he cannot become president. Unless Linderman saves Nathan before he dies of course…
True!!! We’re all assuming Hiro stabs either Sylar or Peter. Good catch with that photo of Nathan and Hiro. Maybe this Nathan is Sylar?
Oh man. If you look at the photo of Hiro and Nathan, then compare Nathan to Sylar in the photo of Linderman and Sylar, Nathan’s eyes and such remind me of Sylar.
Hi Infelt, i am not confused about it.
In fact, think close… the moment Hiro and Ando went back from the future to their time, the future as depicted in chapter 20 gets automatically invalid. That is whan happends when Hiro and Ando ar e not taking any active participation in that timeline events. ( but as i always say its just a theory i can be wrong).
Nakamura: Well i dont think Linderman knows about Hiro’s mission. as far as linderman knows hiro just stole his sword. but it really could be lindermans work, i cant posible begin to imagine what a man of that power and resources is capable of, after all he says micah’s life is his doing and planning.
Mike
Hi Infelt, i am not confused about it.
In fact, think close… the moment Hiro and Ando went back from the future to their time, the future as depicted in chapter 20 gets automatically invalid.
As Hiro explained to Ando during episode #1
time is not represented by a straight line (past present future). That he learned from reading X-Men (he mentiones issue #143 but I think he should have said #141 & #142).
Future Hiro learned that timelines are ’strings’
and in order to change events ‘globally’ you must intervene at a precise moment.
If traveling to the past of the future made the future or past invalid
Hiro would have never been able to talk to ‘future himself’ (in person, like on episode 20 or by phone during an earlier episode)
