we hardly seeing sylar/gabriel got bruises/bleeding…maybe the illusion he create is to let others seeing him powerless.kinda like sylar is just an ordinary people in the eyes of others then without other people knowing his real ability is,he stole others abilities quietly.

I think Sylar losses his powers because of the virus that Molly Walker had. He will need Mohinder to save him.
