Heroes Returns! Webisodes in July and 3rd Season on September 15!

Heroes will return to NBC on Sept. 15 (Monday at 9 p.m. ET/PT) with an expanded third-season opener, but network executives confirmed that the proposed prequel spin off, Heroes: Origins, is officially dead.

“We consciously chose to rest [Heroes] this spring so that [creator] Tim Kring and his team could get ahead of the creative and build up to a massive event–a three-hour Heroes night,” Ben Silverman, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, said during the network’s upfront presentation to advertisers in New York on April 2. “On Monday, Sept. 15, we’ll kick off with a Heroes clip show to try to bring back the audience and [then air] a massive two-hour Heroes film.”

Silverman also explained why the heavily hyped, much-anticipated Heroes: Origins was scrapped. The show was originally conceived to help eliminate Heroes repeats, and directors and writers–including feature-film vets Kevin Smith, Eli Roth and Michael Dougherty–were already lined up before NBC dropped the idea.

“We were taxing our creative team to do too much around that,” Silverman said. “We wanted 35 Heroes [episodes] and 12 Heroes: Origins, each of which was supposed to be a mini-movie and backdoor pilot. We reached far and challenged our people, and we decided it was better to focus on keeping the Heroes mothership as strong as possible.”

Heroes will air Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT

NBC Digital Entertainment is moving Peacock properties online in a big way.

NBC announced plans to run original “Heroes,” “Chuck” and “The Office” webisodes beginning in July. Net also announced a “30 Rock” online initiative — dubbed “30 Rock 360″ — that mirrors web platforms for “The Office,” “Heroes” and “Lipstick Jungle.”

“We’re incredibly lucky to have such collaborative writers, producers and actors to work with,” said Vivi Zigler, exec VP of NBC Digital Entertainment.

By the web episodes they mean that Heroes will first appear on internet rather than on NBC. I read from some resources that Heroes will start on july this year on NBC site. Here you go… I can’t gurantee anything because I got that by E-mail:

“NBC is planning to offer up new episodes of Heroes already in July. They’ll be web episodes instead of the traditional episodes on TV, which means these Heroes episodes will only appear online at NBC ( at first). That should keep us interested until September 15th, 2008 when Season 3 begins with massive two-hour Heroes film.

No word yet on what the episodes will be about, how long they will run, or who will star in them. They could be used to continue the storyline, or introduce new characters. We’ll just have to wait and see how they will use them. I’ll keep you posted as more details are revealed.”

That sucks for me ’cause I’ve got dial-up and cannot load any videos except youtube and fast internet is not available in my area. I hate how heroes has to be so high tech, it’s like they don’t care about fans without access to all of the Evolutions content. Do you think that those episodes will some how air on television?

It’s amazing what you can read from the titles… I wonder about certain characters that would fit into each on the episodes… Hmmmm…

What would they be about?

There is loads of things we can get out of these titles but in particular I wonder about “The Year of Our Lord”… Could it be about Adam as the Lord in the one of the future episodes?

“One of Us, One of Them” Suppose this one is about person who struggle between being a villian and Hero… Maybe Niki/Jessica?

“Dreamtime” I leave it up to you because nothing comes to my head…

“The Butterfly Effect”- ths one has to sum up season two; it has to explain what has happened to Niki/Jessica, Nathan and new “Villians”.

Think about it and let us all know! Atleast we will have something to talk about whilst watin’ for season 3…

Don’t you think that it’s kinda agony to wait that long???

personally i think the title “dreamtime” has something to do with Matt and him discovering more about his mind’s abilities like his father’s being able to control dreams and what not.

dave 19
Apr 16, 2008 4:25

Yeah I could go for that idea…

Dreamtime fits most to Matt or maybe some other Villian with that ability… Also the child who visits Mohinder in his dream (season 1)
