Heroes Volume 2 – Generations

218 Comments 21 May 2007

Tim Kring said the other day that the upcoming season finale will introduce new characters that will become central to the story in the second season. “There are several new characters coming in the immediate future,” Kring said. “The idea of the show from the start was always to basically honor the origin story of the first sort of blush and discovery of these powers. And so, in order to do that, new characters will have to be cycled into the show. And by extension, older characters will cycle out of the show.”
By this logic, where the first season was called “Volume One: Genesis,” the second season will be called “Volume Two: Generations.”

“The idea of multiple generations has started to crop up on the show,” Kring said. “And in the second season we will deal with that more, hence the title, ‘Generations.’ … The idea was that we wanted to make it easy for viewers to be able to come on in the second season. And we thought if we wrapped the show too tightly around itself, so that you had to watch 23 episodes before, It would be harder for a new viewer to find the show. And we always want to be a show that has the barrier of entry low enough so that new viewers can join if they want.”

Kring confirmed that the season will have a cliffhanger ending, but one that will be more intreging then frusterating….he hopes “No, I think it’ll be intriguing more than frustrating,” he said. “The idea was to end one idea of the show, one story, and then slingshot you into the next season.” (via Sci Fi Wire)

Doesn’t matter who’s dead or alive at this point. The next season is going to be in the past, focusing on the origin of the “powers”. Mama Patrelli era. ;]

  2. Sarah says:

I love how Nikki/Jessica’s character developed in the last episode. She was really starting to lay it down on Sylar. Love her. =]

  3. Armando says:

Peter: alive and kicking [all people above were right, we saw him in the future guys and he had already exploded!]

Nathan: ??? [probably alive,he's not that altruist so that he wouldn't bail after he got Peter high enough]

Sylar: ??? [definitely died at the spot, however I also fear an external intervention, someone dragged his body into the sewers. Is it to study him or to revive him? That remains to be seen...]

I really liked the ending. It touched all the right spots, gave out good messages. It is true that the fight scene between Sylar and Peter could have been a little more “kick your ass-bite you in the neck-pull your nails out” type of brawl, but hey, maybe next one will be!

Also, who cares if Sylar bought the big one by chubby Hiro, the way he did. Hiro could have also stopped time and decapitated Sylar or shoot him, the result would have been the same. Perhaps Sylar’s attention was divided [many players at the scene] and he didn’t react soon enough. Who cares, to hell with him, didn’t like his face anyway!

idk if this is completely dumb or not;but could the person worse then sylar be (now don’t laugh) mrs.pertrelli? if her power is anything along the lines of knowing everything then she would be able to see molly, and also she was kinda evil, i mean being agaisnt simone’s dad and with linderman about the plan.

and if her powe is something like that “knowing everything” (got that from multiple blogs and then sfter watching th episode realized there were somethings she said like “This bomb is going to go off” how would she know that there even was a bomb?! and “Mr.linderman was murdered in his office” i dont even think the police knew he was murdered for sure and “I know what your thinking nathan, let her go”

a shot in the dark? maybe. but we have to wait until september to find out.

Okay- i loved the season finale..but yeah it was a cliffhanger…but i think that the one molly was talking about…is claire’s dad. since she’s the tracking system, he’ll always know where she is if she’s using her powers

kk, loved the long analysis by selina clearing everything up. agree with just about everything she said.

the thing i copied and pasted is just…wrong. Claire’s dad—is Nathan Petrelli
Molly is the tracking system—so why would Claire’s dad know where Molly is. Also, if the writer meaant to say that Molly’s dad is the villain, that can be put to rest in the episode where Molly is found in the closet by Parkman as he discovers his powers because, in that episode, Molly is hiding in the closet and her parents were both killed by Sylar (assumed)

Question though–they were pinned to the wall outside the closet using kitchen utensils, etc. via Sylar’s telekinesis. But…as we have seen the trend of powers be unquestionably hereditary, were Molly’s parents’ heads split open like all of Sylar’s other victims? Maybe we’re to assume that and they just didn’t show it. Whatever. No worries, great show, looking forward to the DVD and the premeire of V.2.

also i agree that peter is alive, but don’t base it off of “5 years gone” in five years gone micah and d.l were dead. the bomb went off and ando was dead.

and well; if peter died it would have been pointless for nathan to die because claire could have just shot peter.

  7. james says:

well if you think about it if he regenerates he can just do it again the point is if he gets to space he cant come back even if he does regenerate perhaps he cant absorb his brothers power cus of his genes i dunno,

i thought it was great. stop whining the best character is in the next season

  8. JAV says:

    Awesome last episode.
The bomb was stopped and their world was saved.
We got closure on this issue.
Peter vs Sylar was fitting for the last episode. Watch Dragon Ball Z if u want big fights.
Looking forward to season 2, although 8 months is a long time to wait.

    Also GO HIRO GO

  9. angelica says:

its pretty long time as i can say SEPTEMBER!!!!!!!!!!! i can’t wait……….. so many theory and many edge hanging questions…………….. so tiring to think what will happen………. hope season two will be a blast!!!!!!!!1

  10. zach says:

everyone is basing the next season off of the episode where they looked into the future. but the problem is as nathan said the future is not set in stone. this is not the future that we will see in the next season because in that future ando was dead and in this one he is alive.

sylar will not explode in the sewer because if he does all of those charecters will die who are above him.

nathan is alive he teleported but we will not realize it until way later on.

the cockroach is the one that molly said she is afraid to think of. for some reason he has use for sylars body.

where was peters mom during all of this.. aparently she is the only one left in that older generation of heroes. her role must have been greater than even lindermans in the plan. possible she is the villian? and also what are her powers? in the end everyone is accounted for except for her. and then we see a cockroach.. my opinion is she is the cockroach. and wishes to save sylar to carry out the bomb plan.

  11. Mike says:

The whole point of the series was to set it up for the next two seasons. If you look at it in terms of Star Wars, each is it’s own season but they fit together to make one story. At the end of the first season, Hiro meets Kensei who I can only assume is his ancestor. Peter gets flown off by Nathan but then Nathan lets him go but is concussed by the bomb blast so ends up in the water. Molly tells us that there is someone worse than Sylar, who I will assume will end up in the fight scene at the end of the third season. I wouldn’t be surprised to find that the person who is worse is in fact Peter’s father, despite the fact that it would be far to cliche to do so… Peter’s mother is obviously evil but masks it behind manipulating her kids to do her bidding in the hope that they think it is for the greater good… What does she get from it though?

  12. Bee says:

I think the reason why Claire didn’t want to shoot Peter was because she’s afraid that she might blew his brain out… You see his brain is the source of all his powers… if it got blown to pieces… there’s no way he could regenerate.

Plus, the reason why Peter can’t control his power at the time was not because he can’t control the going nuclear thing… he did managed to control them when he first met ted didn’t he? I think maybe he absorbed too many powers from Sylar that’s why he lost it… remember before this he only got one power at a time… imagine having to absorb all that power from a man like Sylar who has so many abilities?…. Maybe that’s why he couldn’t fly himself out of there…..

Anyway, I would really like to know what Mrs. Petrelli’s power is… Plus I really don’t know where Mr. Deveux fit into the equation….

    I just can’t wait for Volume 2!

  13. sam says:

When peter says “there is no other way” before claire shoots him, Nathan is far up high in the sky. How does he hear peter and manage to say “Yes there is Claire”when he lands? Does he have super hearing like that lady or what?

  14. Hia says:

Ey think about it.. what we saw in the future wont be the same since, the bomb didn’t go off and Hiro did end up stabbing Syler… But i believe Syler isnt dead because it was jst too easy…

I dont think the next season will have anything to do with “the bomb” but how the powers came about and possibly the ancesters of thoes in this volume…

I personally want to know the realtionship between Mr. & Mrs. Petrelli, Lindaman Hiro’s Dad & Samone’s dad… their past and Powers… that would be a good Volume/season…

Either way we will see…I jst cant wait

  15. colm m says:

i swear to god, if Claire, and Nikki aren’t in most of the second season. i’ll cry. LOL

i hope all of our first season’s cast are in the second.
    mostly Claire, and Nikki.

Finale was amazing, wasn’t showy and didn’t take anything from the othe seasons, like sylar and peter power fighting, [five years gone] or Claires skin burning away as she goes towards one of the exploding men, which ever. [peter]. It was new, and fresh and niki kicked ass.
