As the season reaches its climax May 21, Panettiere teases, “Claire has to make a very hard decision. She is put in a position of serious power — to stop (destruction) in a pretty heartbreaking way. Or not.”
Heartbreaking way!!!
Who, besides Peter and HRG, is close to Claire’s heart?
Let’s discuss.
Also, the same ‘hint’, plus a couple more, were dropped by
members of the show during an interview posted online at EW.
Here’s the short segment:

Claire can’t kill Peter, can she- he can heal
I can’t see Claire cutting Peter’s head off, or even finding a way to cut his head off before he can get away
Maybe this involves her going to Paris or something with Nathan’s campaign- she never gets in real touch with her family besides Peter.
That’s about the explosion.
Claire knows how to kill Peter,
she might be the only one who does
(maybe Peter’s mom and Nathan know also,
I don’t know if they’ve seen Claire pulling the
piece of glass from Peter’s skull)
And again…that’s a heartbraking decision she’ll need to take, such as: Kill Peter, or let millions die.

I think it is important to point out that Claire says “I’m sorry” in Peter’s dream on Fallout. Maybe Claire will betray Peter after manipulation from Nathan, Angela or Linderman.
Since Peter knows he is going to blow up New York, he will probably attempt to leave the city. Maybe when he does try to leave the city, Claire will betray him after being manipulated by one of the above. The Petrelli’s and Linderman know that Peter trust Claire. She certainly will be a great catalyst for betrayal. Especially since Linderman and Angela seem to NEED Peter to blow up in order for thier plans to work out.

Peter’s Scar comes from Hiro, “The Hard Part” is not Just to kill Sylar it is to Kill Peter. He has to stop the bomb and kill Sylar. Sylar is going to kill somebody close to peter probably his mom, and peter is going to explode, or maybe not if Hiro’s Blade gets to him on time. He could regenerate or all that stuff but the fact that his wound is on his face says that the person who wounds him must know that he could regenerate.

I don’t think that was a dream. I think that was a premonition.

Yes Peter’s dream is very important here. Claire said “i’m sorry”, so yes she is betraying him by doing something that hurts him. BUT she will not kill him. Remember the scene in the dream where we meet Nathan. Nathan is smiling and walking towards Peter …. big spoiler:
… And as i’ve read on another website, Nathan seemes to fly Peter away before he explodes. That way he’ll explode and Nathan might die. (here are the exact words on the other website:
“I’m also told that the bomb will go off in the season finale but how and when it happens will prevent the loss of a mass of innocent life. Anybody get the connection yet of why Nathan was running toward Peter in the scene of the bomb’s explosion.?”)
greetings, jim.

I don’t get it. If Peter is the one who’s responsible for the nuclear blast, then why does Hiro killing Sylar have anything to do with changing the timeline?
Lochlan
Rob,
Because Sylar is still a prick. They pretty much have to stop them both from doing any damage.
Lochlan,
I agree that -no matter what- if nothing changes Sylar is still a dnager to other ’special’ peole.
But now…everybody: let’s not forget that neither F Hiro nor P Hiro know what’s going to happen in the –present– timeline.
F Hiro knows only what happened after:
a)the first time Sylar exploded (nothing good, and went back in time to warn Peter and told him to save Claire)
b) what happened (nothing good..Sylar still exploded) after Peter saved Claire.
He doesn’t know (neither does P Hiro) what’s going to happen now that P Hiro went back and try to change (again!) the events by going back - I think - to October 4th.
‘String Theory’ and ‘Quantum Mechanics’ are concepts that theorize the possibility to change the (past-present-future) events over and over and over and…
…hopefully by the end of episode 23 Hiro will find a way to prevent the explosion (no matter who is going to be the exploding man this time around)

I second that notion. She knows how the power works.
One more thought:
during a recent interview with Masi Oka (Hiro) posted on line at wizarduniverse.com , Masi Oka (Hiro) stated that during the first season Hiro and Claire will not act in the same scene (take away that ‘premonition/dream sequence’, but even then Hiro and Claire did not interact, they just were in the same scene).
This is Masi Oka statement:
Q:Who have you not had a scene with on the show?
OKA: I haven’t worked with Hayden Panettiere actually, which is probably kind of a spoiler. Let’s put it that way.
Q:Is she the only one you haven’t worked with?
OKA: [Silence] [Laughs] I’ll leave it at that. That’s all I’ll say.
You can read the whole interview clicking on this LINK(that statement is on page 2, almost at the end of the interview)
I think the Dream with Claire saying she’s sorry is a premonition… Why? Well let’s see…
I believe Peter has more power than he realizes…
Why? Remeber that scene where he dreams he’s flying with Simone’s Father? And then he tells Simone and she says her father has told her the same thing but only three month earlier? I believe Simone’s Father had the power to dream the future and while Peter was nursing him he absorbed it…
Soooo… Claire might be just the one to stop Peter….
About the heartbreaking thing here’s a thought… What if Zack is Danger? She can rescue him and allow millions to die or kill Peter and let his only friend die… Far fetched? Might be…

in my previous comment:
“She can rescue him and allow millions to die or kill Peter and let his only friend die…” but savin millions from death…
hard choices…

My theory:
Claire has to stop Peter from exploding.
And she needs to stop him ‘the hard way’.
That’s -maybe- why in Peter’s dream Claire says “I’m sorry.”
