Line up started around 9 am for the Heroes panel scheduled to start at 12:45 pm (and it did, ballroom filled to capacity (around 3000 people, maybe more) with many fans (hundreds) left outside. Good thing we went inside earlier to check the Bionic Woman panel (in the same ballroom) and it was like killing two birds with one stone since we got to see the pilot episode (Bionic Woman will also air on NBC, and Heroes fans should check it out, they’ll love it) and keep a seat for the -much anticipated- Heroes panel. There’s present press and fans from all over the world: Heroes is getting bigger by the minute.

The panel starts:
cast walks in, introduced by Loeb, hugs and hand shakes. Jackis wearing a ” I’m just a paper salesman” Masi a “Hayden is my Hero” Greg a “Milo is my Hero” and t-shirt.

On stage : Jack Coleman, Hayden Panettiere, Masi Oka , Milo Ventimiglia, Noah Gray-Cabey, James Kyson Lee, Greg Grunberg, Adrian Pasdar, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Ali Larter, Dania Ramirez (that will play Maya. She looks gorgeous…), Tim Sale (artist behind Isaac’s paintings) and last Tim Kring . The panel is moderated -as always at comic book conventions- by Jeph Loeb (show co-producer and co-writer and also one of the best writer in the comicbook industry).

DL is -again- nowhere to be seen.

Kring starts by thanking the SDCC fans, said that the entire cast’s appearance was a way to “…thank everybody from the bottom of our hearts.â€?
(to continue reading please hit the ‘read more’ link)
A bit of talk about the online music video and comic book contest, announcement that Ubisoft will produce a Heroes videogame.

Q&A starts:

First question is for Greg, who thanks the fan and takes off his t-shirt and gives to the fan (he’s wearing another identical tshirt undernheat)

Tim Kring: the cockroaches we have seen throughout the episodes of season one symbolize evolution.

Best memories of season one:
Ando: las Vegas and Japanese scenes
Noah: shack scene when DL got shot
Sendhil: to be still alive
Greg: being a badass in the 5 years in the future episode
Hayden: jumping out of a window and make a backflip
Adrian: he signed for Heroes and ended up on Survivors
Milo: being completely covered in blood
Zach: season finale’s plaza scene
Jack: to become a series regular with episode 11, and Loeb credited
the fans for that decision “You told us you wanted more HRG, so you got more HRG”
(which we found surprising, this must be the first time Heroes creators
admit that some decisions are taken to satisfy fans’ requests… so let’s
keep it vocal folks!)
Kring: last year’s SDCC Comic-con

Jeph Loeb talked about the graphic novel, about Jim Lee and Alex Ross’ involvement and showed some art drawn by Alex Ross.

(there was some problem with the audio at the beginning, it was quite hard to understand at times, Masi and Adrian crawl to the speakers and try to fix the problem)

What you like to do with your powers next season:
Milo: be still alive
Hayden: instead to get [as usual] killed…kill someone else

What they love most about the show:
Greg: being close to Sendhil, he’s gorgeous.
Ramamurthy ( gives Greg a kiss)
Noah: to hang out with these weirdo’s

Tim Kring announced Kevin Smith (movie / tv director ‘Clerks’ and Marvel comics writer) will write and direct Origins episode #1. That shocked everybody (including the cast on stage)
Kevin talked briefly about his love for Heroes and his plans for the episode he’ll direct.
Tim also announced a new character” Monica”, from New Orleans. Asked about if she was going to be a cheerleader or a stripper Tim said cheerleaders and strippers were needed because the show is about defying expectations and people that find the hero within them.

Tim Kring said the show will run -to start the season- interrupted for 11 episodes (then it’ll stop a few weeks during the Holidays).

Hiro and Ando ‘not traditionally masculine’
Masi: [just stares at the person who asked the question]
Ali: I think Masi is very sexy.

Is there some “chemistry” Peter and Claire:
(crowd booing the fan who asked the question)
Hayden and Milo: they think that’s a sick thought,
considered the relation (Peter is Claire’s uncle) and the age difference.

Multicultural elements of the show:
Kring said it represents a worldwide evolution and
it wouldn’t be credible to have cast only blue-eyed actors from California

Loeb introduces what everybody is here for: season two footage!

The main scenes: ancient Japan scene with Hiro. present: Ando calls George Takei ‘master’. Matt Parkman shooting a gun. Niki and Micah at a graveyard, they’re crying. Mrs Petrelli blaming Nathan (huge beard we saw recently) for Peter’s death. Maya and Alejandro chased by a police car. Mohinder confronting someone who followed him. Molly Walker screaming.Ms. Bennet arguing with HRG. Claire cutting off a toe with kitchen scissors. Kensei and the Japanese princess (yes, once again, David Anders is Kensei). Sylar..staring.Peter in a dark cellroom.

And that was the end of the panel.

  1. Sean says:

Season 1 finale has now completely lost its emotional impact (and completely blew the continuity of the powers) if they are trying to say that Peter died and Nathan lived, when it should have been the other way around

  2. Hiro Andrews says:

Peters still in the cast, and is very alive, hes just a little…busy at the moment.

  3. myself says:

well, Peter could be the one who lost his memory…

  4. Infelt says:

The montage of the season 2 preview was -in style- filmed like previews aried after each episode: very fast paced, short sequences.Peter was in the preview: just a ‘blink and you’ll miss’ split second sequence where he’s in a dark room (maybe a prison cell). Sylar was the second last on the preview, just a glimpse.

  5. lubey says:

    what about the haitian?

  6. lubey says:

how did u get a montage of season 2??

  7. Samaritan says:

    To Sean:

Why would it lose it’s emotional impact? You’re not thinking it through, friend. Think, man. Here’s the (likely) scenario, and I strongly suspect we’ll see this early in the 1st episode of season 2:

Nathan is flying up with Peter…high, high, high. Peter either (1) uses a surge of strength (or whatever) and throws Nathan a distance away (in the sky), then the explostion….as Nathan watches a safe distance away in the sky, OR Nathan is knocked unconscious and wakes at the last moment as he descends, preventing his death as he “crash lands” or the like (in water?). He makes it back and cant find Peter….assumes he’s dead.

Peter blows up but lands/heals and loses his memeory. He lands somewhere and ends up in “a cell room.”

Viola. Show’s integrity intact. BTW, I predicted this very scenario, as well as the exact ending in March/April and won a bet on it. I’ll bet another plate of scones that I am right here.

  8. Nolly says:

    Other notes:
Ubisoft is working on the Heroes game.
As I recall, they said the art shown was from Alex Ross. It’s cover are for the HC graphic novel collection.
Mentioned anopther new hero for next season: Monica, from flood ravaged New orleans. No further info, but she’s apprently neither a stripper or a cheerleasder, since the question was about strong women who are neither.
Tim Kring want’s to do something using the power of the fan base to improve the world; look for more on 9th Wonders in a couple of months.

  9. Hiro Andrews says:

That Comic Cover Is NOT by Alex Ross. IT’s by the creator of the online comic mini “The Death OF Hana Gitleman”

  10. Tanya says:

Heroes is very watchable and so nice to be entertained on a higher level…to think outside the box and talk about what if. dont think the colour of claire s hair is a good shade its very comic book style or maybe thats the point.?
