Good News, Bad News, Our Opinion…Your Opinion?
The GOOD News:
As previously discussed, last week’s talks between WGA leaders and top studios execs have been productive. So productive, in fact, that WGA leaders have scheduled bicoastal (Los Angeles for the WGA West, New York City for the WGA East) meetings with their members.
At the meetings (both scheduled for Saturday February 9th, at at 2 PM at The Crowne Plaza in NY and 7 PM at The Shrine Auditorium in LA) WGA leaders will go over the details of the proposed agreement, and the discussion of the proposed agreement with WGA members will tell WGA leaders if the deal is going to pass in a ratification vote by the 10,000+ WGA members.
It is also possible next Saturday’s meetings go so well that WGA leaders might decide to issue an immediate ‘Back To Work’ order to its members. In that case WGA members could be back to work as early as Monday, February 11.
Under this scenario Hollywood studios will resume production on comedy and drama show in 2 to 4 weeks and air the first new episodes starting in May.
The BAD News:
Since Heroes’ production times are longer than the average drama (or comedy) show, and no new episode will air during Summer, Tim Kring thinks he can complete only three new episodes this season (this season = before Summer).
The next ‘Volume’ of Heroes ( before the strike ) planned to air between December and June, is titled ‘Villains’. And this is Tim Kring’s opnion: ”With a show like Heroes that’s so strongly serialized, and given what we wanted to accomplish with the new storyline, to come back with just three episodes could be creatively dangerous.”
Our Opinion:
Since producers and writers are creative people…they should think ‘outside the box.’
If it’s true that airing only three episodes (out of a dozen) of a ‘Volume’ could be dangerous,
is also true that those three hours of Heroes could be utilized to air an ‘Epilogue’ to Volume 2 (and tie a few loose ends caused by the need to end quickly the story arc) and an ‘Introduction’ to Volume 3.
Or film three self-standing episodes (who did not enjoy Episode 17 of Season 1 “Company Man’, please rise your hands) to explore, in depth, the past of our favorite characters… Hiro, or Peter, or Claire, or…

A self-standing 3 episodes would be the ’safest’. Volume 2 should be left untouch-ed and volume 3 shouldnt be probed into because with just 3 episodes, the flow would be broken.
It would be good if they launch at least that 2or3 episodes because that should give fans something to talk about like theories, rumors or more spoilers. Keep them interested
ummm, can you say: bring on heroes origins?
Yea actually origins would be a pretty good idea.
I think the best thing to do would be origins or something like that. Not particularly connected up to this point, but potentially having an effect on future episodes. It would be too difficult to build enough tension for a good summer break cliff hanger or anything though I think, let alone any sort of satisfying conclusion to a new short story arc.
I guess I would keep volume 3 on shelf until fall. But I think they should start all over with season 2, and just add in 3 episodes inserted where the writers think they could have used more detail or expansion as they deemed necessary. I for one have been getting my weekly fix of Heroes from the graphic novels.
play those Heroes:Origin!!! arghhh!!!
Another ’safe’ way to go would be to adopt 3 online comics into real episodes. That way they would have a backbone of a story that they could creatively fill around and still be tied in story-wise. Just a thought. Personally at this point anything new is welcomed.
my $.02
origins!!!!!
I say …think outside the box and play season 3 during the summer….who says everything has to be on schedule…..Look at “Lost”. Besides majority of the shows will go into season hiatus during the summer so if heroes comes on during that time everyone will be watching it. Thats my 2 cents.
im ok with any epsiodes before the summer..theyh ave to give us something we thing of heroes as a dying show
i would like it to happen so a few loose ends are tied as long as they arnt the last episodes ever
i would cry!!!!!
I’d rather wait.
I don’t want just 3 episodes and be left with a MAJOR cliffhanger that came out of nowhere.
Isn’t it possible to broadcast the new Heroes V3 in the summer (outside the regular tv season) period?
That would even raise the nuber of people watching, don’t you think?
They had a three-month hiatus already. Why take summer off? Start Villains and finish it before the regular fall start. Then turn around and pick it back up in September with Volume 4.
