NBC just released the official description of Heroes episode 03.12 titled ‘Our Father’:

HEROES BAND TOGETHER IN AN ATTEMPT TO PUT A STOP TO ARTHUR PETRELLI – GEORGE TAKEI, KRISTEN BELL, BREA GRANT, SETH GREEN, BRECKIN MEYER, JAMIE HECTOR AND BLAKE SHIELDS GUEST STAR – Hoping to find a way to stop Arthur (guest star Robert Forster), Hiro (Masi Oka) and Claire (Hayden Panettiere) band together and travel back in time 16 years to when Kaito (guest star George Takei) gave baby Claire to H.R.G. (Jack Coleman). Meanwhile, Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) and the Haitian (guest star Jimmy Jean-Louis) team up to finish off Arthur Petrelli for good but are interrupted by Sylar (Zachary Quinto). Elsewhere, in the lab, Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) has a major breakthrough with the formula that will likely change everything. R u serious? Why is heroes becoming less interesting as time goes? Enough of time travel and changing the past/ future characters coming into the past to change the future. Time travel should be off limits for next season if they want a good, original season. Also, if the ecilpse takes away powers (including claires) then how did Adam manage to last till now? He must have been near at least one solar eclipse from past to present. I really love heroes, but they need to start making it like season 1 and start thinking about their work.

when the eclipse is over they will all get their powers back. if you come to heroes revealed then u come for the spoilers and if u do then u should have read that they will get their powers back.

I think Bub’s point is that Adam disintegrated when Arthur took away his power – implying that if his power were to be ’switched off’ at any time, he would just die.
Maybe Adam survived because of the formula. Thus they are RE-creating the formula.
My theory on Adam’s lasting so long: each eclipse alternates between taking powers away and stimulating powers.
I think sad sack may be right as when hiro went back to Japan he didnt loose his power at the sight of the eclipse, but still that doesnt explain how Adam Monroe survived all these years because as Daryl said if the powers are switched off during an eclipse then surely adam monroe would age.
To change the subject Heroes is getting good this season but i have a feeling Peter Petrelli isnt going to get his powers back for a while until fugitives at least but who knows and is Sylar ane Elle evil again or are they playing arthur cant wait to find out.
i posted somewhere else on this site that adam wouldnt survive this eclipse if he still lived
just because this eclipse stripped their powers doesnt mean every eclipse does
im pretty sure the heroes only lose their power while the eclipse is happening… and not forever. so adam would have been without his power for about an hour (from start to finish of the eclipse not just totality) and Arthur turned Adam to dust he didnt turn to dust because his power was taken
well sickboy, I’m pretty sure Adam died becasue of his power being taken. as much as I know, the explanation for his near-immortality stuff was that every cell in his body was constantly dieing and regenerating, thus making him unable to die (and his ability making his own body unable to die). so when arthur took his power, his cells indeed died, without having the ability to heal. as for how he survived the eclipses… well… for one, we don’t know anything yet, since the episode is yet to be aired, and second, no one ever said that an eclipse takes away the abilities (well, we’ll see such occasion now), nor that previous eclipses that occured during Adam’s 400 years acted as power taking away events. and as much as we know, the first eclipse that occured in the show didn’t do anything, at least nothing we know about, the only thing that was stated in this week’s episode that most of the powers mohinder documented appeared during that eclipse. but we know for a fact that the abilities were around long before that; hence the older generation, or claire or the others…
Lets not overthink Adams death people.
Simply put, they wanted to erase season 2 – The only remaining character from it is Elle.
The mere fact Peter hasn’t even mentioned Caitlin is proof enough of this tbh.
They wanted Arthur to heal, they wanted Adam to be written off as a Season 2 mistake, they saw an opportunity to do this… even though it was retarded.
In theory, Adam wouldn’t have died as when he got his ability all those hundreds of years ago, he -STOPPED- again, and yet this scene indicates he continued to age, and the removal of his ability resulted in him returning to his “real age” (400 and something, hence the dust)
If the removal of ability would do something like that, then Peter should have a giant hole in his head and lots of broken bones – Aswell as this during the eclipse Claire, Sylar and Arthur should all have injuries / become dead.
It was simply a quick and easy way to kill off a season 2 mistake (I liked adam personally) – Nothing more.

i disagree with you. peter had healed from these already. i dont think you go back to every injury you’ve ever had. just to the way you would appear if u didnt have ur ability. hense adam 400.
