Spoilers….What we know so far about “Five Years Gone…”
So, everyone is excited about Episode 20. “Five Years Gone” is the appropriate title for the episode, with the original title being “String Theory,” subsequently the title of graphic novel 30. So, for those who don’t feel like trudging through the online Heroes labyrinth, I’ve compiled a list of spoilers for the new episode. Comment on the bottom if you know something we don’t know.
Peter has a bunch of new powers (given, from the promo). Here is the updated list:
- phasing
- telekinesis
- pre-cognition
- flight
- invisibility (I’m guessing that this one will be important and that we haven’t seen the last of Claude)
- time-travel
- super-strength (from when he’s kissing Jessica)
- regeneration
- he should also have telepathy from meeting Matt, and
- he also has the metaphysical connection with Nathan, and lastly
- his prophetic/”everywhere eye” dream
To sum it up: Peter is going to be one powerful guy. And he’s teamed up with Hiro, and possibly Jessica from the looks of it. Posts to heroesrevealed.com say that this band of united Heroes is called the Freeworld, but that is at the moment unconfirmed. Cute, innocent Hiro is now the world’s most wanted terrorist (and perhaps Peter is second?). This Hiro went back in time to try to stop the bomb, who was originally Sylar. But instead of stopping the bomb, he turned the bomb into his best friend. In the graphic novel, we know that future Hiro finds Peter Petrelli on the subway because he trusts future Peter (because he is so powerful and the previews show that they are friends and perhaps live together-Isaac’s loft with the timeline). If you had one chance to save the world, wouldn’t you pick the person you trust the most? And so what if he’s the strongest, too?
To the other Petrelli brother, the Oval Office has become a reality. If he was a “heartbeat away from the Presidency,” then someone’s heart must have stopped beating. Parkman has become Head of Homeland Security with Suresh as Head of Medicine. However, if Suresh has teamed up with the Company, then the Company must be involved with Linderman, with current ties to the White House. This is shaky-but if Matt and Mohinder are working together, but the Company has tried to kill Matt and Mohinder works with them….then this plot fits perfectly in convoluted Heroes style. Back to Mr. President for now. Nathan is proposing a genocide of all “special people” (even though he does tell Claire he’s “the most special person of all.”) But I digress. Nathan’s “genocide” could merely be the killing of the mutant gene by a genetic cure. We do see Mohinder with a needle. Mohinder is given an ultamatim by Nathan, is he with him or against him. This is a tough call, because Mohinder is a geneticist who studies “special” people and that is his life dream. However, going against the President who you know is a “special” person could also be a bad idea.
HRG meets with Claire-now a brunette. She, meanwhile, has found a new love interest, a guy from Texas (name unknown). Claire wants her normal life back. I guess she realizes what Angela Petrelli was talking about. Either way, it seems as though things between her and Nathan are not going smoothly. Claire’s world is not looking up, as we see her confronted by Sylar.
The “America Remembers” advertisement shown on the promo shows a picture of Sylar next to a pic of the bomb. So I guess we can assume Sylar is being blamed for the bomb. I can imagine that to be true, it wouldn’t look good for the President to be the brother of the bomb that brought so much pain to America. But, how bad will it look to Nathan if his brother is one of the main fighters against his regime.
But where does Mrs. Petrelli fit in to this? It is apparant that she has a power: she knew about both Peter and Nathan’s power, but has not yet exposed her own. Sorry to the fans who thought that Linderman was the father of Nathan, but in the graphic novel, Nathan was born while Mr. Petrelli was in Vietnam, before the family knew of Linderman (and before Linderman became a mobster/”Original Hero Team member”).

I’ve been wondering… If Peter had a close encounter with sylar, shouldn’t he could use all of sylar’s powers???
@ Hannah : I agree with you about the scar thing- the only answer is if Hiro gave it to him with the katana (if the katana has any special power behind it). But either way, it should have healed, so I’m not sure what to tell you. But, we did know that Sylar didn’t give Peter the scar as he is kissing Jessica in the old promo with the scar on his left cheeck, not his forehead. As for the personality thing, I’m guessing current Hiro’s journey will change his outlook on life, and as bad things happen, he will become less naive and more defensive. As characters face more challenges, their personalities have to evolve to face those challenges.
@ Roberto : From what we’ve seen from Peter so far, he can only use powers that he’s seen used. For example, we have not seen him freeze anything yet or exhibit super-hearing. He is not aware of all of Sylar’s powers, therefore he cannot call them out at will. However, I’m guessing his telekinesis got a boost

i’ve been a huge fan of HEROES since the very first episode but only now felt compelled to get into predicting what might happen in the last few episodes (better late than never, i guess…hahaha)
anyway, here goes: i think HIRO and PETER are the 2 most wanted people(fugitives) because they have the most powerful power, which is the ability to time-travel…the powers that be, NATHAN or SYLAR or whoever, want to catch them and kill them to stop them from going into the past and changing HISTORY as they know it…think about it, HIRO could literally go back to the very beginning when human genes mutated!…i think that’s why ISAAC made that painting of future HIRO fightint the T-REX…the future villians must stop him at all costs!…i think in the next few episodes that past HIRO and ANDO won’t be able to go back to the past after episode 20…they will be shown in future episodes as future flashbacks…anyway, can’t wait for future episodes and the season finale!…HEROES ROCK!

Now, I am fully confused. In the timeline Hiro and his future self are, Sylar is responsible for the bomb? How come? In the middle of the promo Peter says: “Its ME, _I_ was the bomb” or something like that … Then, either Peter / Sylar must have been dead. But, the promo shows both of them alive.

it could have been (in the original timeline) that when hiro stabed syler he regenrated and started going nuclear only one who could take syler on was peter… maybe he wanted to grab him (with no fear of dying… he could heal) and fly with him out of the atmosphere … or somethng like that…
couse in the first episode when hiro goes to the future.. at least to me… seems that the xplosion was above earth level… around building tops

p.p.s. nathans and peters mother power could be long distance seeing… or whatever is the name.. couse she says to claire in the 0.7% “…heal bones and SPIT OUT BULLETS”… how the hell would she knew that…

How do we know mrs petrelli has powers? has anyone officially said?
Maybe austin healing dallas(graphic novel) did something to him so that the mutant gene came from the fathers side rather than the mothers?

At the end of the Peter, Nathan conversation: She says: I knew it all, long before you did, or soemthing like that. And then there is this distinctive music that comes when Nathan looked at Mrs. Petrelli but then the camera was at Nathan… It could have meant something
I have a question. “Nathan was born while Mr. Petrelli was in Vietnam”… and Peter? Has Nathan and Peter the same father? Or Mr. Petrelli is Peter’s dad and Nathan is from another guy??
Ok scratch my theory
re-reading the first graphic installment of war buddies, the note makes it clear mr petrelli has a son before he goes to war.

first off, if Peter didnt get that scar in the rpomo from syalr, then who did give it to him? also why has all of the characters personalities cahnged after the bomb? none of them seem like who they were before.
