So, everyone is excited about Episode 20. “Five Years Gone” is the appropriate title for the episode, with the original title being “String Theory,” subsequently the title of graphic novel 30. So, for those who don’t feel like trudging through the online Heroes labyrinth, I’ve compiled a list of spoilers for the new episode. Comment on the bottom if you know something we don’t know.
Peter has a bunch of new powers (given, from the promo). Here is the updated list:
- phasing
- telekinesis
- pre-cognition
- flight
- invisibility (I’m guessing that this one will be important and that we haven’t seen the last of Claude)
- time-travel
- super-strength (from when he’s kissing Jessica)
- regeneration
- he should also have telepathy from meeting Matt, and
- he also has the metaphysical connection with Nathan, and lastly
- his prophetic/”everywhere eye” dream
To sum it up: Peter is going to be one powerful guy. And he’s teamed up with Hiro, and possibly Jessica from the looks of it. Posts to heroesrevealed.com say that this band of united Heroes is called the Freeworld, but that is at the moment unconfirmed. Cute, innocent Hiro is now the world’s most wanted terrorist (and perhaps Peter is second?). This Hiro went back in time to try to stop the bomb, who was originally Sylar. But instead of stopping the bomb, he turned the bomb into his best friend. In the graphic novel, we know that future Hiro finds Peter Petrelli on the subway because he trusts future Peter (because he is so powerful and the previews show that they are friends and perhaps live together-Isaac’s loft with the timeline). If you had one chance to save the world, wouldn’t you pick the person you trust the most? And so what if he’s the strongest, too?
To the other Petrelli brother, the Oval Office has become a reality. If he was a “heartbeat away from the Presidency,” then someone’s heart must have stopped beating. Parkman has become Head of Homeland Security with Suresh as Head of Medicine. However, if Suresh has teamed up with the Company, then the Company must be involved with Linderman, with current ties to the White House. This is shaky-but if Matt and Mohinder are working together, but the Company has tried to kill Matt and Mohinder works with them….then this plot fits perfectly in convoluted Heroes style. Back to Mr. President for now. Nathan is proposing a genocide of all “special people” (even though he does tell Claire he’s “the most special person of all.”) But I digress. Nathan’s “genocide” could merely be the killing of the mutant gene by a genetic cure. We do see Mohinder with a needle. Mohinder is given an ultamatim by Nathan, is he with him or against him. This is a tough call, because Mohinder is a geneticist who studies “special” people and that is his life dream. However, going against the President who you know is a “special” person could also be a bad idea.
HRG meets with Claire-now a brunette. She, meanwhile, has found a new love interest, a guy from Texas (name unknown). Claire wants her normal life back. I guess she realizes what Angela Petrelli was talking about. Either way, it seems as though things between her and Nathan are not going smoothly. Claire’s world is not looking up, as we see her confronted by Sylar.
The “America Remembers” advertisement shown on the promo shows a picture of Sylar next to a pic of the bomb. So I guess we can assume Sylar is being blamed for the bomb. I can imagine that to be true, it wouldn’t look good for the President to be the brother of the bomb that brought so much pain to America. But, how bad will it look to Nathan if his brother is one of the main fighters against his regime.
But where does Mrs. Petrelli fit in to this? It is apparant that she has a power: she knew about both Peter and Nathan’s power, but has not yet exposed her own. Sorry to the fans who thought that Linderman was the father of Nathan, but in the graphic novel, Nathan was born while Mr. Petrelli was in Vietnam, before the family knew of Linderman (and before Linderman became a mobster/”Original Hero Team member”).
Do you know something we don’t know? Post it below.

Anybody notice on the activating evolution website that Mohinder’s email addy is:
mohinder@primatechpaper.org
Why is his addy at primatech paper?
Even weirder is primatechpaper.org, and it’s linked sites like burnttoastdiner.com.
Any thoughts?
Nathan and Peter’s mom must be the precog. It fits.
Mohinder address is at Primatech because he went to work for them at the end of episode 19.
She could be a teleporter- maybe that means that her power is close to Nathan or Hiro, but she gets “from Point A to Point B” faster- or only has to worry about the space part of the time-space continuim
So, in the orignial timeline it may be that Peter doesn’t meet Claire before Sylar kills her. He may have gotten the scar before he got regeneration power when he met Sylar. Since Peter didn’t know to save the cheerleader, he may have not met sylar until after the explosion… If that is the case, wouldn’t he not have the scar since he now has met Claire…
It could be that Sylar died in the original timeline when he exploded, the key is for Hiro to find Isacc’s final 9th Wonders issue…
i think that peter gets the scar when he explodes like all the power escapes tho his face hmmm!!
I was also thinking that Sylar will get Candice’s power and then take the image of Nathan and be the president in the whitehouse. That would be a reason for rounding up the evolved humans, so he could steal their powers…
IS IT POSSIBLE THAT PETERS MOTHER HAS THE ABILITY TO TELL WHAT OTHER SPECIAL PEOPLES ABILITIES ARE?????? because she knew that her sons had powers and claire
ok, did anyone else pick up on lindermans plan? they said on a show that linderman was going to heal someone in a wheel chair, well the only person that came to mind for me was nathans wife. so maybe linderman is tring to bribe nathan into helping him in exchange for healing his wife. but i could be wrong.
I have to say that I think ultimately Sylar will become good. Until this point his two main goals have been to kill Peter and Claire; to kill all heroes. Since the bomb was originally Sylar, sylar obvioulsy used Candaces power’s. Sylar will gain Claire’s trust by being someone she knows (Peter, Nathan, etc.). After this he will settle down and eventually become the one who stops the government perpetrated xenocide of heroes. Thank you.

Agreed, James. Sylar’s cut was not the one shown.
Ok folks, let’s clear things up. As the previews ot the 20th episode together with the most recent novel “string theory” imply, we know that sylar is the bomb, and can’t be stopped because he kills claire first. (Let’s forget about the fact that hiro could have chopped his head off instead of stabbing him.) In the preview of the the 20th episode we see sylar with the future (brown haired) claire. Ergo: Future hiro has changed things. Claire and Sylar are still alive, but the bomb still went off. Why? Because future made peter the bomb. By giving him the warning hiro made peter looking for people with power (”Save the cheerleader save the world.”) And that way he aquired more power than he could handle at that point (without any “superpower” experience.) Speaking about this “peter took the place of sylar because of future hiro” theory. We know that future peter has a big scar. But as we also know, the Peter in the present time line can heal and therefore can’t have a scar. He heals since he found claire. So future Peter didn’t know claire, when he got his scar. Voilà.
What will happen in the 20th episode?
Hiro (or future hiro) gets captured and interogated by future Matt, the CIA Boss. Future Peter wants to stop the bomb, by saving at least one hiro to make him travel back through time.
And in the next following three episodes in present time. One Hiro is back in the present to change it, by stopping Peter and Sylar from going nuclear.
After that it’s still unclear if Nathan stays in government, if Sylar and Peter survive the season and what other secrets might be revealed.
Enjoy the last episodes of the first volume. Greetings, jim.
I’m pretty sure that Linderman wants Micah to fix the vote for a Petrelli win via Linderman’s voting system, since Hana was interfering with the software (see http://www.samantha48616e61.com/).
i just had a look at those pics with peters scar on his fore head it goes at a slant but in the trailer we saw the scar on his left cheek
looks like the scar is like a full slice diagonally across his face if u think about it in that pic about 23 comments above if u continued the scar it would follow down wards diagonally onto his left cheek
Peter doesn’t have the scar because he saved the cheerleader. Think about it. When future Hiro comes back Peter doesn’t have the regenerating ability. Thus, at his encounter with Sylar he keeps the scar. However, once he has the regen ability he no longer has the scar because he can heal it.
