Who’s coming back?

33 Comments 16 April 2009

whoscomingback

Michael London from TVGuide had an interview with Tim Kring about season 3 finale. Kring spelled out a mysterious comeback.

We flash-forward three months and see the return of the character a lot of fans thought would never come back.

Who is he/she? Any ideas? My guess is George Takei or Christopher Ecclestone.

Hayden Panettiere
Teen Dream

WHY HER The breakout star of TV’s hottest new drama, Heroes, Panettiere plays Claire, an unbreakable high school girl who became synonymous with the show when the catchphrase ”Save the cheerleader, save the world!” entered the pop culture lexicon. ”I think it was very clever,” says the New York-born actress, although she admits that calls of ”Hey, cheerleader!” now follow her around Los Angeles. ”But it’s fun. It’s not an obnoxious thing.” Technically speaking, Claire doesn’t actually spend much time shaking pom-poms. ”I told [Heroes creator] Tim Kring I need to cheer at some point,” the actress says with a laugh. ”She wears the outfit all the time!”

WHY THEM As Sulu on Star Trek, Takei, 70, blazed trails for Asian-American actors. As Hiro, time-warping supernerd of Heroes, Oka, 33, is just blazing. It was a stroke of genius and great respect to cast them as father and son on the new show.

To Train A Hiro: Heroes Ep. 22 ‘Landslide’ Image Gallery

27 Comments 10 May 2007

Heroes NBC episode 22 Landslide image“Every hero must learn his purpose. Then he’ll be tested and called to greatness.”
Those words, pronounced by Hiro Nakamura during Heroes episode 1 ‘Genesis’, sound more and more prophetic as we approach Heroes Season One finale. Hiro will soon face a challenge, and the result of that challenge will determine -and hopefully change – present and future events.

During episode 21 ‘The Hard Part’ we’ve seen Hiro facing Sylar, and the impression was Hiro lost only the first round of a long match. What could be even more important is that Hiro’s famous weapon, the sword he stole from Mr. Linderman’s collection, has been damaged, and we all know how important that sword is when it comes to boost Hiro’s self-confidence.

What’s next? (spoilers warning)

Kaito Nakamura, George Takei, Interview

No Comments 03 February 2007

George Takei talked about his new era as Kaito Nakamura,.. We’ll see him more often in episode 14 “Distractions”, but before it, you should read Interview…

George Takei

Is it safe to say you’re not playing one of TV’s more loveable dads on Heroes?
George Takei: Well, it’s hard to make any judgments, yet. As I said to some reporter… I am making discoveries with each script. I thought he was just a very concerned father… but I’m discovering there’s other dimensions to him which makes the character even more ambiguous. I’m like these fans on the internet. I’m learning more with each episode myself.

How did you get the role as Hiro’s dad?
George Takei: It was a surprise call. I had been viewing the show because shortly after it came on the air, I got emails from fans telling me that there’s a Japanese character who’s a Star Trek fan. So I’ve been watching, but I never expected to be working on it. One day my agent called and said that there’s interest in me for Heroes, but they want you to audition. I said, “Okay, sure, fine.” So they emailed the script to me and I looked at it and I called my agent and said, “Sure, this looks like a piece of cake.” He said, “They want you to translate it into Japanese and audition in Japanese.” I said, “I do speak Japanese, it’s a little bit of extra work, but let me take it on.”

So I translated that and went and auditioned and they were very happy with it. It turns out they wanted to make sure my command of Japanese was credible. I do speak Japanese fluently. When I auditioned they believed that I could speak Japanese and that’s how it all came about.

Can you talk at all about Hiro and Kaito’s relationship?
George Takei: Well, everything in life has consequences. One of the most consequential acts is creating another human life. Kaito Nakamura is a father and with it comes consequences. I’m discovering that there’s a whole different kind of consequence with my particular son. What’s intriguing about Heroes is it examines those consequences of life.

Are we going to meet a Mrs. Nakamura on Heroes?
George Takei: Well, that’s a very good question. I hope so, I hope she hasn’t died or that I’m not divorced. I know just what the writers let me in on. The audiences likes surprises so… but I’m not ruining any surprises when I say Kaito has siblings and very accomplished siblings.

Sylar wants to be Spock

No Comments 08 December 2006

SylarZachary Quinto, Gabriel “Sylar” Gray” talked to Courier News, he doesn’t reveal any details about Sylar.

When Horn Rimmed Glasses (aka Claire’s dad) gets me in captivity, he’s kind of merciless in trying to get at the root of what I’m doing and why I’m doing what I’m doing,” Quinto said of Sylar’s Lecter-like incarceration. “You really see (Sylar’s) anger, the darkness that comes out. I don’t like being in captivity, and I don’t like being overpowered.”

Most interesting thing is, he really wants to be Spock in new Star Trek movie, which produced by J.J. Abrahms. I think he should talk with Hiro’s father about this.

George Takei joins to Heroes

1 Comment 20 November 2006

sulu.jpgOn the NBC smash hit Heroes, time-traveling fanboy Hiro Nakamura is insanely obsessed with Star Trek. TV Guide magazine has gotten word that Hiro’s father will be played by Trek icon George Takei (Sulu). The new character will be introduced in a January 29 cliff-hanger.
“It was one of those lightning-bolt ideas,” creator Tim Kring tells TV Guide.
Masi Oka, who plays Hiro, is also over the moon. “This is absolutely brilliant!” the Tokyo-born actor tells TV Guide. “Hiro’s father is this big honcho who shows up in America with his bodyguard. He has this whole elaborate scheme to kidnap his son and take him back to Japan.”
Adds Oka, “I just hope I get to say, ‘Dad! Sulu is my hero, not you!’ The sci-fi fans would love it!”
