Is Explosion necessary?

ComicBookResources.com reveals Linderman plans for us. They get a chance to attend the Heroes Screening and Q&A at the Museum of Television & Radio’s Paley Festival, and saw a clip from the upcoming episode “.07%”.

Nathan Petrelli & Linderman

In the scene, Linderman entertains Nahan in an art gallery which showcases his extensive art collection, paintings of the future all, by Isaac Mendez and people like him. Included among the paintings were those of the fictional Japanese warrior Takezo Kensei. “We all have our roles to play in the events to come,” Linderman says. “This isn’t just a collection of art. This is a road map. These artists envision a brighter future. Peace, prosperity.”

Nathan jabs his finger at a painting of the New York explosion and asks: “Is this your idea of a brighter future?”

“What if I was to tell you that it was?” Linderman replies.

Linderman goes on to explain that he, too, has powers, which came with an audible reaction from the audience. He’d become aware of them years earlier, and banded together with others like him “to make a difference to the world.” But some of his comrades in arms lost their way. “Greed set in, and we split apart. And all the good we’d done, well, it amounted to nothing,” Linderman says.

Then Linderman drops a bombshell, literally and figuratively: the explosion is to be the catalyst for a better future. When Nathan wonders out aloud about the cost in lives, Linderman counters, “There’s six and a half billion people on the planet, that’s less than .07%. Come on, that’s an acceptable loss by anyone’s count.”

“It is your destiny, Nathan, to be the leader who uses this event to rally a city, a nation, a world,” Linderman continues. And to drive the point home, Linderman unveils a prophetic painting of Nathan Petrelli in the Oval Office, seemingly painted by Isaac Mendez.

Malcolm McDowell

According to print issue of USA Today, Malcom McDowell has been cast on Heroes as “an ally of Nathan.” (via zotoinan from 9thwonders)

Biography
Possibly best known for his portrayal of Alex DeLarge in A Clockwork Orange (1971), McDowell made his screen debut in Poor Cow (1967) followed by The Raging Moon (1970), Figures in a Landscape (1970) and If… (1968) His performances caught the attention of Stanley Kubrick, who cast McDowell as the lead in A Clockwork Orange. He then starred in the ambitious O Lucky Man! (1973). McDowell regularly turned up on British Television productions in the early 1970s in adaptations of theatre classics. He co-starred in Voyage of the Damned (1976), and made his Hollywood-movie debut as H. G. Wells in Time After Time (1979). That popular movie also introduced him to Mary Steenburgen, whom he subsequently married in 1980, but divorced ten years later in 1990. He is also well known in Star Trek circles as “the man who killed Captain James T. Kirk” in the film Star Trek: Generations. In 1991, McDowell married Kelley Kuhr. He has three children.

Maybe he will be Linderman, maybe someone else, but he’s a great actor for sure and he’ll be great on Heroes. What do you think?

Spoiler

Spoilers from Godsend!

No Comments 21 January 2007

Pretty hot spoilers from Ain’t Cool News. It’s great to see that, Writers has a logical explanation to “Hiro’s fast-improving English” issue, but i’m still curious about “Who’s Linderman?”

  • The episode, titled “Godsend,â€? begins with the superimposition “Two Weeks Laterâ€? (which puts it just three weeks before Nov. 8, when Manhattan goes boom).
  • As the episode begins, Hiro, Nathan and Peter have all returned to New York, where we learn Hiro’s powers have been diminishing since he failed to rescue his waitress-girlfriend Charlie. Peter, meanwhile, is in a coma, reliving the dream of apocalypse.
  • It turns out that Sylar did not escape PrimaTech Paper following the unpleasantness with Eden.
  • Claire’s nerd-pal, Zach, isn’t gone for good after all.
  • Nathan comes to remark that Hiro’s English is much improved. Hiro attributes this to Charlie, who taught him “many things.”
  • Niki, while in Vegas stir, makes a very interesting discovery about herself. I think.
  • We do not learn to whom Jack Bennet reports, but a plural pronoun is employed.
  • The shadowy “Linderman” does not yet surface (at least not overtly), but the name “Linderman” comes up a lot.
  • Peter does not fly, but there are special effects aplenty.
  • The new Christopher Eccleston character is indeed introduced in this episode. He sports a beard and we don’t meet him till near episode’s end.
  • And here’s how it ends, spoiler boys: “Who needs God when you got me?”

Who is Linderman, anyway?

Christopher Ecclestone

I was wrong, again. According TvGuide, our beloved (ex)Dr.Who will be Claude, The Invisible Man, and he’ll be a mentor for Peter and guide him on his journey to learn and control his power.

Claude, an invisible man played by British actor Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who), appears January 22. “He’s been living with his invisibility for many years and has come to grips with it, so he’ll give us a different view into this hero world,” Tim Kring explains. “He’s big, imposing and charismatic, and will become a mentor to Peter – albeit a tough, reluctant and stern one. He’ll help Peter learn to use and control his powers.”

Ecclestone for Linderman?

1 Comment 22 November 2006

christopher.jpgOk, we were wrong. Zachary Quinto is Sylar, not Christoper Ecclestone or Sean Bean. Currently Sean Bean is shooting “True North” and he is very, very busy. George Takei is going to be Hiro’s Father. So there’s only one man for the never-seen-but-very-important-role guy, Christopher Ecclestone. Ex-Dr.Who will be mysterious Linderman!.
