Jack Coleman (HRG) talks about his character and the season finale

8 Comments 19 May 2007

Jack Coleman (HRG/ Mr. Bennet on Heroes) revealed some information on the season Finale. “Fans can expect a satisfying ending as well as a ‘big cliffhanger’ in the last few minutes of the upcoming season finale. What it really is is a fantastic resolution,” Coleman said in an interview at the Saturn Awards in Universal City, Calif., last week. “And then a springboard into something completely unexpected. I just saw it, and it’s so cool I can’t even tell you. It’s just fantastic. It’s like, ‘What? What?’ It’s great.”

Jack Coleman

Since the birth of the Heroes show, we have seen Coleman’s character in many different forms. With his initial debut, we saw Bennet as little more than ambiguous villain. Throughout the series, we have learned more about his mysterious character, and about his chosen mission in Heroes. He turned his back on his organization, which I still would like to know more about, and has chosen to go through means necessary to protect Claire (Hayden Panettiere). “I think he’s morphed into a good guy,” Coleman said of his character. “He had to make a choice. He chose Claire. And then there’s the fallout from that. But the good thing is that I don’t think he’ll be defanged. I think his skill set will be used still in a morally gray way, but to different ends.”

Coleman also revealed that his character (H.R.G.– because of his horn-rimmed glasses) will finally get a first name. “There will be a name,” Coleman promised. “I can’t tell you when it comes or how it comes, but I think there will be a name.” (via Sci-Fi)

Masi Oka: Heroes Finale Is The Bomb

7 Comments 13 May 2007

nbc-heroesMasi Oka, who plays the time-traveling Hiro in NBC’s Heroes, told SCI FI Wire that the upcoming season finale will have a resolution of the first season and a cliffhanger in the last three minutes that will lead directly into season two. “I think it’s great the way the finale ends,” Oka said in an interview May 10 at the Saturn Awards in Universal City, Calif., where he was honored for best supporting actor in a television series. “It’s a wrapping up of volume one, which is [called] ‘Genesis.’ And it wraps up the whole bomb storyline. So it’s a nice finale, and there’s a great cliffhanger with everybody, I would say. And you do get to see a little bit of volume two, which is called Generationsnbc-heroes

Oka also talked about the return of guest star George Takei, who plays his father on the show and has some involvement with the mysterious O.W.I., or Organization Without Initials. “It’s going to be pretty fantastic,” Oka said of the next episode, titled “Landslide.” “[Takei is] there, and we get a little bit of a training montage, like a Karate Kid thing. … He might be part of the O.W.I. We don’t know. The whole O.W.I. could be something bigger than we think. And as I say, volume two is called ‘Generations.’ What does that mean? Does that mean the past? There’s going to be some more things with generations of other families, or is it generations in terms of years? Eras? Who knows?”nbc-heroes

As for the final episode, Oka said it was a difficult shoot, but the efforts of the cast and crew

Heroes NBC episode 22 Landslide image“Every hero must learn his purpose. Then he’ll be tested and called to greatness.”
Those words, pronounced by Hiro Nakamura during Heroes episode 1 ‘Genesis’, sound more and more prophetic as we approach Heroes Season One finale. Hiro will soon face a challenge, and the result of that challenge will determine -and hopefully change – present and future events.

During episode 21 ‘The Hard Part’ we’ve seen Hiro facing Sylar, and the impression was Hiro lost only the first round of a long match. What could be even more important is that Hiro’s famous weapon, the sword he stole from Mr. Linderman’s collection, has been damaged, and we all know how important that sword is when it comes to boost Hiro’s self-confidence.

What’s next? (spoilers warning)

Masi Oka and Tim Kring in Wired 15.05

Here are the pages from the Wired Magazine Article about Masi Oka and Tim Kring.

Here is the easier-to read version:

Article by: David Kushner from Wired Magazine
Tim Kring doesn’t know Magneto from Wolverine. You’d never know it from watching Heroes, his hit show about everyday people with extraordinary powers.
Tim Kring has never been much into comic books. As a kid growing up in Santa Maria, California, he was more into running track and playing acoustic guitar. “The idea of the dialog bubbles always bothered me,” he says. (That’s a major tip-off – a true comics fan knows those things are called speech balloons.)

As an adult, Kring found success as a writer and creator of mainstream TV dramas – Chicago Hope and Providence in the 1990s, Crossing Jordan in 2001. His only brush with geekdom was when, at the age of 24, he sold his first script to the so-lame-it’s-cool show Knight Rider.
